Gospel Joins Symphony is a partnership between the CSO and EN-RICH-MENT of Stark County. We welcome Dr. Henry Panion, III, multi-award-winning and internationally renowned conductor, composer, arranger, and producer. Dr. Panion will jointly conduct this concert with CSO music director designate, Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz.
Gospel Joins Symphony will welcome several area church choirs to join the full orchestra, and soloists will be needed.

Join our community ensemble starting March 22 for four rehearsals located at EN-RICH-MENT: 1014 Cleveland Ave NW Canton 44702. Remaining rehearsals will be discussed at the first date.
Perform alongside the Canton Symphony Orchestra at Umstattd Hall in Zimmermann Symphony Center on June 15, 2024 during a night where the gospel joins the symphony!
DR. HENRY PANION, III
Producer, composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and educator, Dr. Panion’s wealth of experiences spans the musical spectrum, from Gospel to Classical, Pop to Rock, Country to R&B, Hip-Hop to Be-Bop and everything in between, from the likes of superstars Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan; jazz luminaries Ellis Marsalis, Jonathan Butler and the Lionel Hampton Orchestra; Gospel legends the Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and The Clark Sisters; Country artists Randy Owen, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans and ALABAMA; R&B Songstresses Kelly Price and India Arie; American Idol winners Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard; Hip-Hop artists Coolio and Nelly; and more than 50 different symphony orchestras all across the globe, from the Tokyo (Japan) Philharmonic, Royal (London) Philharmonic, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) Philharmonic, and Gothenburg (Sweden) Symphony, to the Atlanta Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, New York Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra.
DARIUS MCBRIDE
Darius hails from Rochester, New York. He attended Malone University in Canton, Ohio to pursue a degree in Choral/Vocal Music Education, where he graduated in 2016. During his time at Malone, he participated in Malone’s Opera Theatre under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Wolschlager, where he held numerous Tenor roles. Darius was part of the University Chorale and Chamber Choir where he served as student conductor from 2013 to 2015, and tenor section leader from 2011 to 2015 under the direction of Dr. David Donelson and Dr. John Peterson. Darius also served as the One Voice Gospel Choir director from 2013 until 2015. Aside from his work and studies at Malone, Darius is a former En-Rich-Ment instructor (2011-2015) under the leadership of Betty Smith! At En-Rich-Ment, he taught choir, music theory, and directed the En-Rich-Ment strings. Darius also served as Music Director for two community productions: Carrie the Musical, and Heathers the Musical. Continuing his vocal educating, Darius has taught private piano and voice lessons at Forte Music School in Toledo, OH. He has run successful choral programs at Kingsway Christian School and Fostoria High School, and is currently the Vocal Music Director at Westerville South High School in Westerville, OH, where he currently resides.
